Seven complete intensive three-day course to gain CompEx Ex11 Mechanical qualification
Published: 30 August 2024
Seven team members from our Waltham Cross and Rotherham depots have completed an intensive three-day course to gain their CompEx Ex11 Mechanical qualification. Including theoretical and practical training, this further certifies their competence with working on mechanical infrastructure in hazardous environments.
The course included the main protection concepts, categories, and levels that are applied to EX-certified electrical and mechanical equipment.
We have invested to meet the continuous requirements of our clients and ensure personnel allocated to contracts are fully proficient and knowledgeable with projects in hazardous areas and provide the market-leading response that clients expect.
Kurt Wachter, Head Of Sales (Commercial Fuels Infrastructure), said: “Our work by its very nature is predominantly working in hazardous areas, and as part of our ongoing training and development, we always ensure our technicians have the latest requisite skills and certification. We have many clients who have these types of zones as part of their infrastructure and, with this certification, we can continue to provide the highest standard of work.”
Darryn Abel, one of those who undertook the CompEx Ex11 qualification, said: “The recent CompEx training has been incredibly valuable for me. I've gained a whole new perspective on working in these dangerous areas and feel much more confident. It's already making a positive impact on my day-to-day work.”
“The training facility in Swansea was of a high standard and the instructor had a vast amount of experience of working in an ATEX environment. This allowed him to explain things and put them into context that everyone understood, and he was able to relate to our working environment and the challenging situations we sometimes encounter on sites. The course focused a lot on ATEX markings and their suitability for the hazardous environment they are in, which we will need to know as we progress in seniority and are required to liaise with the client, suppliers and PMs.”
A further four employees are set to undertake the same training course over the next month, enhancing our position as the go-to environmental partner and industry leader.
