An unexpected outcome of the pandemic on the use of ferric sulphate in the water industry
Published: 20 November 2020
Ferric Sulphates are effective primary coagulants that are used by the water industry for drinking water production, wastewater treatment applications such as phosphorus removal, struvite control and sludge digestion.
Ferric Sulphates are a bi-product of steel used in the manufacturing industry and is the coagulant of choice for many industrial and sanitary wastewater treatment applications, due to its high efficiency, effectiveness in clarification, and utility as a sludge dewatering agent.
The start of the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the manufacturing industry with many plants grinding to a halt. This has led to a reduction in the amount of Ferric Sulphates available for the water industry and lower grade products entering the market.
These lower quality Ferric Sulphates have been found to solidify, almost to concrete in the storage tanks.
We have the equipment and the expertise to attend your site, remove the solidified Ferric Sulphates into our own tankers and clean your tank to get you back up and running quickly and compliantly.
Don’t let solidified Ferric Sulphates impact your water and wastewater treatment facility, call us today on 0800 592827.
