Getting to know Lauren Dance, Contracts Compliance and Data Manager
Meet the people behind our success as we unveil the stories, passions, and expertise of our dedicated team. Discover how their experience enables us to become a trusted environmental services partner for clients across the UK. This time, let's get to know Lauren Dance, Contracts Compliance and Data Manager.
What was your background before Adler & Allan?
Drainage has always been part of my world, actually!
Before joining Adler & Allan, I was an Operations Manager at DynaRod, covering Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, and Swindon. The big difference was that it was purely domestic work – not the complex commercial projects I deal with now.
Believe it or not, I also have a background in professional horse riding! I even competed nationally and worked with some Olympic riders. While that path didn't work out in the long run, it certainly taught me dedication and discipline.
And how did you end up working at Adler & Allan?
It wasn't exactly a straight shot! I actually started in the road tanker testing department at Brize Norton, back in operations. Building that team and working my way up to operations manager was a great experience. I've always loved data and spreadsheets – some might say I have one for everything!
Then, an opportunity opened up in the growing civils department for a contracts manager. With my background and love of organisation, it seemed like a perfect fit.
Now, I handle all the drainage contracts for Brize Norton, making sure our major clients have everything they need. This includes planned maintenance to keep their drainage systems compliant, as well as all the transport necessities, like six-weekly checks, MOTs, ADRs, and making sure driver tachographs are submitted properly. It's a lot to juggle, but I like a good challenge, and I'm always happy to jump in wherever needed.
Looking back, it's been eight years at Adler & Allan, and the company has grown tremendously in that time. It's exciting to be a part of something so dynamic!
What is the biggest challenge you face right now with drainage?
With the sheer number of vehicles we manage, keeping them reliable and operational is a constant concern. It's about anticipating potential issues before they arise. We're also expanding rapidly, so finding qualified personnel is key to maintaining the excellent service we provide.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Relaxing at home with my family is definitely my happy place. And let's not forget the boss of the house: my amazing miniature poodle!
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
A trip to Disney World with the family is on the agenda, and something a little more adventurous: shark diving! I can't wait!
